Colorado engagement session locations
Here are locations in Colorado I truly love, and my clients do too. Colorado offers such an incredible variety of places, making it easy to find a setting that feels perfectly you and beautifully fits your love
1. Pass Lake
Tucked into the mountain peaks of Colorado, right next to Loveland Pass, sits Pass Lake (about 45 minutes to an hour from Denver). Being here genuinely feels like you’re on top of the world. It’s intimate, quiet, and somehow feels like you have the place all to yourself. Perfect in every season. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each visit brings a completely different look and mood. A short, and easy 10 minute walk leads you to the smaller lake, making it just as accessible as it is beautiful. Truly my favorite location to photograph year round.
2. Horsetooth resevoir
Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins is known for its breathtaking sunsets, where the sun dips behind the rocks and casts a warm, golden glow across the water. As the light changes, the rocks are soft oranges and deep golds, creating a dreamy backdrop that feels both dramatic and peaceful at the same time. It’s one of those places where you can’t help but slow down and take it all in.
One of the best parts about Horsetooth is how incredibly accessible it is. With easy parking nearby, it’s a stress free location that still feels expansive and scenic. From there, you can explore a variety of views towering rock formations, open grassy areas perfect for laying out and relaxing, and shoreline spots that offer reflections of the sky as the sun goes down. Every turn gives you a slightly different perspective, which makes it ideal for lingering, wandering, and soaking in the moment.

3. SPRAGUE lake RMNP
Sprague Lake, just a little over an hour from Denver, is an absolute dream of a location. Located inside Rocky Mountain National Park, it does require a park entrance fee, but it’s well worth it. There’s a parking lot right next to the lake, making it super accessible, with an easy, flat trail that loops all the way around.
This spot is incredibly peaceful and offers stunning views of snow capped mountain peaks reflected in the water, especially on calm days. It’s quiet, serene, and surrounded by beautiful nature in every direction, which makes it perfect for slowing down and soaking in all the love for your engagement session. With towering mountains, soft light, and endless scenic corners, Sprague Lake is an ideal location for photos and a favorite for anyone wanting classic Rocky Mountain views without a strenuous hike.
4. Union Station
For couples who are drawn to a downtown, city forward vibe, Union Station is the perfect location for an urban look. Located in Denver, it blends classic architecture with modern energy, creating a timeless backdrop that feels both stylish and alive. Inside, the space is filled with stunning architectural details, warm tones, and thoughtfully designed furniture perfect for stepping in, grabbing a quick drink, and taking a moment to relax together.
Outside, Union Station truly comes to life. The surrounding streets and hidden alleyways offer endless opportunities to wander and explore, each one bringing a slightly different feel. From historic brick walls to bustling sidewalks and city lights, it’s a dream for couples who want variety without going far. Whether you’re embracing the movement of downtown or stealing quiet moments just around the corner, Union Station delivers an effortlessly cool, urban setting that feels iconic and fun.

5.Lost gulch overlook
Lost Gulch Overlook is the perfect spot for breathtaking views and unforgettable proposals. Standing at the overlook truly makes you feel like you’re on top of the mountains, with sweeping views in every direction. As the sun sets, the sky lights up in the most beautiful way, casting warm light over the landscape and highlighting the stunning rock formations around you.
Another bonus? It’s incredibly easy to access. A short, four minute walk from the parking lot brings you right to the overlook, making it an ideal location for a moment that feels adventurous, romantic, and completely timeless.
6.Bugg Theatre
For couples craving something a little different, Bugg Theatre is such a fun, unexpected choice. You’ll need to rent the space by the hour and coordinate with the owners, but it’s so worth it. Having an entire theatre to yourselves feels so incredibly intimate.
These sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like a date night. Cozy seats, soft light, shared laughs, and that just us feeling. I absolutely love capturing couples in spaces where they can relax, be playful, and truly enjoy each other. Bugg Theatre does exactly that.
7. Mount Bierstadt / Bear lake
Just beyond Georgetown sits Mt. Bierstadt, and the moment you arrive, everything opens up. The road gives way to wide, golden fields that stretch endlessly toward the base of the 14er, glowing in the light and moving gently with the wind. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down without trying where the air feels fresher, the sky feels bigger, and the views feel almost unreal.
Mt. Bierstadtt rises proudly above it all, dramatic yet inviting, framed by rolling meadows and layered mountain peaks in every direction. The contrast between the soft, open fields and the rugged mountain backdrop is breathtaking. No matter where you stand, the scenery feels cinematic like nature showing off in the most effortless way.
What makes this spot so special is the sense of space and calm it offers. There’s room to wander, to breathe, to take it all in without distraction. The golden grass, the towering peaks, and the endless sky come together in a way that feels so peaceful steady, and endlessly beautiful.
Mt. Bearstadt isn’t just a view you pass by it’s a place that stays with you. A place where the landscape feels alive, where every glance offers something new, and where the beauty of Colorado’s high country fully reveals itself.
8.Dawson Butte Ranch
Dawson Butte ranch is the perfect spot located just outside of castle rock always quiet. Lots of meadows, flowers and open fields. This is the ideal location for someone who wants nature and mountain views without driving to far.

9.Vintage car
Not a location but renting a vintage car for your engagements can make things so fun, unique and different. I always love when my couples incorporate something they enjoy doing or want to spice things up a bit!
Cheesman Park
There’s something so romantic about an evening session at Cheesman Park in Denver Especially in that quiet window right before dark.
As the sun dipped lower, the park softened. The open lawns glowed with the last bit of light, and the iconic pavilion began to stand out against the deepening blue sky.
Shooting right before and into the dark creates such a cinematic mood. With the trees silhouetted and the pavilion gently lit, the entire session took on this timeless, almost editorial feel.
If you’re drawn to something a little moodier and more romantic than Cheesman at dusk might be your perfect vibe. Sometimes the magic really does happen after the sun goes down.
