My friend Cait and I flew to Guatemala to capture the most stunning wedding set inside a Mayan ruin in Antigua.We flew into Guatemala City, rented a car and drove to Antigua. We wandered the downtown, soaked up all the charm, and explored everything nearby that made this place so special (including their delicious foods)

Lake AtitlAn
After spending a few days in Antigua, We made the three-hour drive to Lake Atitlán, which may be one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. The drive itself was a little intimidating at times, so if you choose to rent a car, I’d definitely recommend staying alert and aware of your surroundings. Cait, however, was an incredible driver the entire way while I happily embraced my role as passenger princess.
Once we arrived at the lake, we checked into the most beautiful Airbnb, complete with hammocks overlooking the water and the surrounding volcanoes. Getting around was part of the experience. We took small tuk tuks to visit the different villages around the lake, each with its own distinct personality.
My personal favorite was San Pedro, with its stunning views, charming shops, and docks right along the water where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the sunshine. Every village around Lake Atitlán feels completely different, and I highly recommend exploring as many as possible to truly get a sense of which one resonates most with you. By the end of our stay, we both agreed that we need to return to Guatemala just to spend an entire week soaking in life at Lake Atitlán.
