An Antigua guatemala celebration
I flew to Guatemala with my dear friend Cait Collins Photography to second shoot alongside her on this incredible wedding day in Antigua. The couple got ready in a nearby Airbnb filled with color and charm, setting the tone perfectly for what was to come. It was a beautiful, intimate beginning including first looks with the brides mom, dad and bridal party. Before the celebration unfolded in an ancient Mayan ruin, An unforgettable setting for an already meaningful day.
The ceremony
The ceremony space inside the ancient Mayan ruin was truly breathtaking. It was the kind of place that makes you stop in your tracks. So rich in detail, history, and character that it feels almost unreal. The ceremony took place within the ruins themselves, softly lined with florals as light shined through the stone. A harp echoed through the space, adding to the stillness and emotion of the moment. It was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and emotional ceremonies I’ve ever been a part of.
Cocktail hour
Just outside the doors was a stunning space for cocktail hour, showcasing the charm of the exterior of the Mayan ruin with plants growing freely in every direction. Guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres as a light bite while soaking in the atmosphere. My favorite part of cocktail hour was the incredible band performing outside there’s something so special about live music filling the space as everyone sipped cocktails, laughed, and eased into the celebration.
portraits
The ruin was in downtown Antigua, which made the time when it came for portraits even more special. We started by taking portraits of the couple and the bridal party in front of the ruin and then, explored some streets in downtown Antigua to get gorgeous representation of the art and charm of the couple walking around the streets
Dinner
Everyone made their way into dinner right after couples portraits and cocktail hour, to relax and start the party. As the sun went down the ruin glowed with candles and florals set everywhere. It created such a romantic and intimate vibe as people laughed, shared speeches and the couple shared cake cutting with a champagne tower, to kickoff the incredible night right before dancing begun.
Dance
The couple started the dance party off with their first dance. After their dance, the guests and bridal party really brought the excitement and made their way to the dance floor. The DJ played incredible music with sparkler fireworks coming out of behind the dj booths and incredible laser lights to really set the mood. Truly an incredible day celebrating these two and their love
